#Christmas 2021: London’s West End “countdown” without warning! Over a million lights create the grandest Christmas light display in the world!

London’s tourist shopping hotspot Covent Garden lit up its Christmas lights earlier, bringing artificial snow and allowing everyone to feel the holiday atmosphere early. Recently, the West End of London also brought the world’s largest lighting event, unexpectedly “counting down” and lighting up over a million lights, bringing surprises to the audience and visitors!

On the evening of November 12th, near the London landmark Piccadilly Circus, a giant TV screen suddenly started counting down from 10 seconds, displaying the words “Only in the West End…This Christmas,” instantly causing a crowd to gasp and gather around!

However, the surprise given to the public by the London City Council is not just that! After the countdown, multiple streets and areas in the central London area, including Oxford Street, Regent Street, Bond Street, Leicester Square, and others, were all lit up with giant light displays. It is known that these installations used over a million light bulbs, instantly illuminating the streets and creating a festive atmosphere!

One of the lighting installations features an angel design, with outstretched wings symbolizing the arrival of the holiday season, while also sending festive blessings! In addition, the streets are lined with starry skies, butterfly-themed decorations, shining brightly, creating a magnificent scene, no wonder the London City Council describes it as the largest Christmas light display! It is worth mentioning that the LED lights used can save 75% more energy than traditional light bulbs, promoting environmental protection while celebrating the holidays!

This large-scale lighting event is not only held to welcome the Christmas holiday, but also hopes to attract more visitors to help the local economy recover from the impact of the epidemic. In addition, the city of London has also specially planned 50 essential activities for this holiday season, such as visiting the historic Hatchards bookstore, watching “The Nutcracker” ballet at the London Coliseum, and visiting the world’s first bar of the French champagne brand Bollinger. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park will also return this week to create a joyful Christmas!
