August TV Series Recommendation! Xu Guanghan stars in two blockbuster movies, and the live-action version of “One Piece”.

Netflix and Disney+ have the latest series to watch in August! In addition to the must-see movies starring heartthrob Xu Guanghan, “The Thing About Me and the Ghost Becoming Family” and “Want to See You,” there is also the return of Zhao Yincheng in the TV drama “Moving: Superpower Family” and the perfect conclusion to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy. Of course, we can’t forget the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of “One Piece”!

“The Story of How I Became a Family with a Ghost”

The fastest Taiwanese film to break 100 million in 2023, “The Thing About Me and the Ghost Becoming Family,” starring Xu Guanghan, Lin Bohong, and Wang Jing, and directed by Cheng Weihao, the Golden Horse-nominated director of “Soul Snatcher,” will be available on Netflix on August 10th.

Description of a straight male police officer, Wu Minghan (played by Xu Guanghan), who is afraid of both homophobia and ghosts. While collecting evidence during a case, he accidentally picks up a red envelope. After discussing marriage with his boyfriend, they both die in an accident. Wu Minghan, who doesn’t want his grandmother to die before seeing him get married, comes up with the idea of a ghost marriage. The two are forced to marry each other. Unwilling to accept this, Minghan’s luck starts to decline. Not only can he not get rid of his ghost spouse, but he also messes up the drug trafficking case that policewoman Lin Ziqing (played by Wang Jing) has been working on for a long time. With no other choice, he decides to work together with his “ghost husband” Mao Mao to solve the case, find the culprit, and seek justice for Mao Mao, embarking on a journey that is both absurd and tearful.

“Meet Me”

The film version of “Meet Me” continues the storyline of the TV drama and is led by the original cast members of the “Phoenix South Squad,” Xu Guanghan, Ke Jia-ying, and Shi Boyu. It will be exclusively streamed on Disney+ at 12:00 am on August 1st! In the film version, Li Ziwei (played by Xu Guanghan) and Huang Yuxuan (played by Ke Jia-ying) finally become a couple, but Li Ziwei mysteriously falls to his death. Huang Yuxuan later travels back in time to before Li Ziwei’s fall, triggering multiple parallel universes. In different timelines, both Li Ziwei and Huang Yuxuan try to prevent each other from falling, saving each other and doing their best to prevent their regrets from coming true.

“White Day Youth”

The Hong Kong drama film “Youth in the Sun” starring Anthony Wong, who won his first Golden Horse Award, will exclusively stream on Disney+ on August 12th at 9:30 PM! It tells the story of taxi driver Chen Bairi (played by Anthony Wong), who has limited time due to cirrhosis, and the unresolved resentment between him and his son (played by Ng Kwok Yin). Mo Qingchun (played by Lin Nuo), a refugee’s son, is facing deportation because of Chen Bairi, who caused his father’s death. A son who has lost his father and a father whose relationship with his son cannot be repaired embark on a journey of escape before death, developing a bond that resembles that of a father and son.

“Live-action adaptation of One Piece”

The live-action version of “ONE PIECE” will be portrayed by Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Japanese rising star Shinken Yū Arata as Zoro, American actress Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, will be exclusively available on Netflix starting on August 31st! This live-action adaptation of the pirate adventure story is based on Eiichiro Oda’s bestselling manga and is set in the “Great Pirate Era.” It follows the story of the pirate Monkey D. Luffy as he sets sail on the ocean in search of the legendary treasure known as the “ONE PIECE” and his dream of becoming the “Pirate King.”

“Guardians of the Galaxy 3”

“The Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy concludes with the perfect ending – Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will exclusively stream on Disney+ starting August 2nd!     “Masked Lady”

    Adapted from the webcomic of the same name by Korean cartoonists Memi and HeeSe, “Masked Girl” stars Gao Xianting and Lin Zhenna. It combines elements of thriller and dark comedy and will be available on Netflix on August 18th! It tells the story of Jin Moumei, a working woman who is insecure about her appearance (played by Gao Xianting and Lin Zhenna), but has a devilishly attractive figure. Every night, she wears a mask and becomes a BJ (Broadcast Jockey) for online live streaming. Through this process, she becomes involved in unexpected events that completely change her life.

    “Zombie Universe”

    The new Korean reality show “Zombie Universe” combines the theme of extreme survival with zombie scenes. A group of artists including Lee Shi-hyang, Lu Hong-zhe, Park Na-rae, DinDin, Billlie TSUKI, and others will embark on the ultimate journey of survival in the zombie-filled streets of Seoul.     “A City Without Seasons”

    Healing-oriented original Japanese drama “A City Without Seasons” will be exclusively available on Disney+ on August 9th, with a total of ten episodes!
