As Easter holiday in April approaches, I believe everyone will take advantage of the holiday to stay at home and binge-watch shows. Netflix has released a number of works from March to April, including the popular Taiwanese drama “Copycat Criminals,” the Korean film “The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion” starring actress Kim Da-mi, and the first original Thai film of the year, “The Hunger Games.” All of these are worth watching. Here are 10 selected Netflix movies and TV series for you to enjoy during the long holiday!
“Imitation Offender”
Netflix Taiwan’s original series “Imitation Offender” is adapted from the famous Japanese mystery novelist Miyuki Miyabe’s novel of the same name, and it has been released on March 31st! Starring Wu Kang-jen, Lin Xinru from “City of Sky”, Ke Jia-ying from “Somewhere Only We Know”, and Yao Chun-yao, among others. The story tells of a series of murders that occurred in Taiwan in 1990, which caused the entire city to be in turmoil. The relentless and horrifying crimes prompted a determined prosecutor to step into the cat-and-mouse game, fighting against the dangerous manipulator.
“The Hunger Games”
Netflix’s first original Thai film of the year, “Hungry Games,” will be released on April 8th. It stars Judy Monchachon (Aokbab) from “Bad Genius.” The story follows Aoy, a young chef in his 20s who specializes in street food, as he accepts an invitation from Hunger, Thailand’s top chef team, to train under their notorious and ruthless head chef. Aoy is forced to push himself to the limit and uncover the unknown dark side of the culinary world.
“A Bitter Life”
The American dark comedy series “Beef” stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, and depicts two strangers who engage in a public argument due to a traffic dispute. One is a struggling plumber, while the other is an overwhelmed entrepreneur. The two individuals, who initially dislike each other, become more and more competitive, resorting to increasingly despicable tactics. Their anger spills over into their daily lives, triggering a series of chaotic events.
“MH370: The Disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight”
Netflix documentary “MH370: The Disappearance of the Malaysian Airlines Plane” has a total of 3 episodes and was released on March 8th! It tells the story of the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in 2014, where a plane carrying 239 passengers vanished from radar without a trace. It delves into one of the biggest mysteries of our time, investigating the MH370 Malaysian Airlines case.
“Killing Me Softly”
Netflix original Korean action film “The Killer Fu Shun” stars Cannes Best Actress Quan Dao Yan, Xue Jingqiu, and Quan Shi’er. Directed by the director of “Bad Guys: The World of the Bad Guys,” Bian Shengxian. The film tells the story of Ji Fu Shun, played by Quan Dao Yan, who has a dual identity as a renowned assassin and a single mother with a teenage daughter. She gets caught up in an inevitable battle of life and death, while raising her child proves to be her biggest challenge.
“Sailor of the Sea”
Netflix Norwegian drama “The Sailor” has a total of 3 episodes and was released on April 2nd! Starring Christopher Joner and Anni-Mari Vierelmann, the story is based on true events and tells the tale of two sailors on a Norwegian merchant ship who find themselves unexpectedly caught up in the war during World War II, and are forced to fight for survival in extremely dangerous circumstances.
“Cross-Ocean Rescue”
The World War II series “Crossing the Ocean Rescue” will be released this Friday! Adapted from the novel “The Flight Portfolio” by Julie Orringer, created by Anna Winger, starring Gillian Jacobs, Lucas Englander, Corey Stoll, and Callie Michael Smith. The story is set in Marseille from 1940 to 1941, telling the tale of two Americans and their partners embarking on a determined rescue mission to help artists, writers, and other World War II refugees escape Europe.
“Sex/Life” Season 2
The second season of the Netflix erotic drama “Sex/Life” has been released on March 2nd! It continues to star the original cast members Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos from “Love Nesting”. In the second season, Billie actively pursues the life she wants, facing new challenges and intense desires. This season features more explicit scenes than the first season, with more explicit nudity.
“My Vampire Best Friend”
The American adventure action film “My Vampire Best Friend” will be released this Friday! The story tells of a lonely boy who meets a mysterious creature (chupacabra) hiding on his grandfather’s ranch during a visit to Mexico, and then embarks on an unforgettable adventure journey. It is suitable for the whole family to watch together.
“The Creator”
Starring Kim Hee-ae from “The World of the Married” and Jeon So-nee from “Oasis,” the drama tells the story of a PR expert named Hwang Do-hee who faces a moral dilemma. With her skills, she gradually pushes human rights lawyer Oh Kyung-sook towards becoming the mayor and brings down her former company. The series will be available on April 14th.
