An avant-garde and versatile image of Anita Mui, who once brought countless beautiful songs, is not only a song queen of her generation, but also a film queen. She has filmed many unforgettable works. Known as the “Daughter of Hong Kong,” she has been gone for nearly 18 years, but time has not diminished our longing for her. A biographical film about this superstar of the 80s and 90s, “Anita Mui,” will be released this year, allowing us to once again cherish her memory.
The reason for filming the biographical film “Anita Mui” was because the boss of the Peaceful Film Company, Jiang Zhiqiang, wanted to fulfill the wish of his good friend Anita Mui. Anita Mui had hoped that Jiang Zhiqiang would make a timeless masterpiece for her, and later he and Zhang Yimou deliberately designed a role for her in the film “House of Flying Daggers.” However, Anita Mui passed away due to illness. Today, many years later, Jiang Zhiqiang is filming the biographical film “Anita Mui” to fulfill a promise from the past.
Jiang Zhiqiang started looking for actors and scripts more than 3 years ago. “Anita Mui” is directed by “Cold War” director Leung Lok Man. As for the most critical female lead, although it has not been officially announced yet, it is rumored that it will be led by international supermodel Wang Danni (Louise), playing the role of the late diva Anita Mui in the film. Louise, who graduated from the Beijing Dance Academy, often appears on major fashion runways for top brands. She has not acted in a film before, so the news of her playing the female lead in “Anita Mui” is indeed highly anticipated as her first film work.
The choice of the female lead is still awaiting further official news, but the first trailer of the movie has been released. Set against the backdrop of the Red House, Sister Mei steps onto the brightly lit stage in a wedding dress, and as she appears, the film lights up with the subtitle “She leaves eternal beauty and singing for the audience,” just like the glamorous outfit she deliberately put on, both “marrying” the stage and “marrying” her beloved music.
Although “Sister Mei” did not officially appear in the trailer this time, just her back and the atmosphere on stage are enough to make people feel the style of a superstar of a generation, and her never-give-up spirit. Let us continue to look forward to more exciting clips released after the movie.
