Panerai will launch the all-new Submersible Luna Rossa watch at Watches and Wonders 2024.

by

This year at Watches and Wonders, the most noteworthy watches from Panerai are the PAM01466 and PAM01543, which feature the new patented material Ti-Ceramitech™. After 7 years of careful research, this process transforms the surface of the titanium alloy into a dense ceramic layer, creating a unique and eye-catching blue color for the watches. This technology significantly increases hardness, with the finished case weighing 44% less than stainless steel, but with a fracture toughness 10 times higher than traditional ceramics. The watches are equipped with the P.900 automatic movement, with a 3-day power reserve and a stop-seconds function. The craftsmanship of the bezel matches that of the case. The mechanically processed titanium undergoes a ceramicization process, followed by precise machining to reveal the underlying metal, creating a visual contrast with different materials. With a water resistance of up to 500 meters, Panerai once again sets a milestone.

As for the new Submersible Tourbillon GMT Luna Rossa Experience Edition watch PAM01405, limited to 20 pieces worldwide, it will be released during the America’s Cup finals in July this year. Panerai will invite watch owners to Barcelona before the finals to participate in carefully planned experiential activities, allowing guests to experience the excitement of sailing races firsthand. The core of PAM01405 is the P.2015/T manual winding mechanical movement developed by the team over 3 years, with the most outstanding feature being the Panerai patented tourbillon device, rotating horizontally every 30 seconds. As it rotates vertically to the balance wheel, it can counteract the effects of gravity on accuracy. With a power reserve of 4 days, the indicator is discreetly placed on the back, along with a 24-hour GMT function and day/night indicator, meeting the needs of modern travelers. The black DLC-coated titanium bezel is paired with white lacquered markings. The intricately designed openworked dial allows a glimpse of the exquisite mechanical structure. The outer ring is coated with Super-LumiNova® luminescent material, enhancing the beauty of the watch design in the dark, while also echoing Panerai’s aesthetic tradition of using luminescent materials. The hour and minute hands, as well as the bezel, are coated with blue and green Super-LumiNova® luminescent material respectively, ensuring clear readability during diving or in low light conditions.
