#Valentine’s Day 2022: GUCCI launches limited edition magazine, telling the whimsical story of fairies and giants

Storytelling has always been a specialty of GUCCI and Creative Director Alessandro Michele. This Valentine’s Day, the brand decided to express the noble value and ideals of true love through the creation of the limited edition magazine “A Love Story Presented by Gucci,” reminding the world that true love can indeed conquer all barriers.

Continuing Alessandro Michele’s fantasy, this time the brand collaborates with Los Angeles visual artist Ariana Papademetropoulos to create a magazine titled “A Love Story Presented by Gucci” that imitates nostalgic popular novels. It offers both digital and physical versions, using installation works and scenes photographed by Alexandra Cabral as material, and bringing to life a fairy tale about a fairy searching for a match for her body type with collages in the 1960s surreal pop art style, adding a touch of fantasy to innocent admiration.

The story tells of a fairy played by Ariana herself, who, with the help of her friend Isabelle Albuquerque, also a female artist, searches for “true love” that matches her body type. This romantic fairy tale, with its unique storytelling charm, not only expresses noble values and ideals but also highlights Alesandro Michele’s longing for true love and reminds the world of the great influence of true love.

Ariana Papademetropoulos, who appeared at GucciFest two years ago, is an artist known for exploring the psychological impact of home spaces and interior design. Her surreal images resemble dreams, capturing the experience of waking up from a vivid but elusive dream, giving a sense of floating between reality and parallel dimensions.

In this project, she once again transforms into the protagonist of the story, and collaborates with photographer Alexandra Cabral to create a dreamy world exclusive to the GUCCI universe. Creative director Alessandro Michele also, in this narrative context, subtly presents Gucci’s latest Valentine’s Day collection themed around “love,” featuring items such as bags with “LOVE” motifs, newly designed heart-shaped chain handbags, popcorn paper bag designs, iconic Ace sneakers, strapless sandals, GG canvas printed scarves, and a variety of pink Padlock and Petite Marmont handbags adorned with strawberry and cherry details in the same color scheme, all appearing in the story.
