Rolls-Royce luxury new era? 111-year-old Spirit of Ecstasy “Goddess” logo gets a facelift!

Luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce recently unveiled a new design, but this time it’s not the Bespoke Collection, nor the Phantom, Ghost, Dawn, or Black Badge series, but rather the iconic 111-year-old Spirit of Ecstasy.

Spirit of Ecstasy

Rolls-Royce recently announced on its official website that the brand’s iconic symbol and emblem, the Spirit of Ecstasy, with 111 years of intellectual property and history, will undergo a redesign, changing the century-old charm of this “brand goddess.” It is understood that the newly designed Spirit of Ecstasy goddess statue has been significantly adjusted in height, reduced from the original 100mm to 82.7mm, also shorter by about 17mm; in addition, the angle of the goddess statue has been redesigned and adjusted, changing the posture from the previous feet together to a bent single foot stepping forward posture, not only providing a more realistic feel, but also symbolizing looking ahead against the wind, with fewer folds in her sleeves, echoing the theme of aerodynamics.

The design of the goddess statue is related to aerodynamics? Because this time, Rolls-Royce has redesigned the Spirit of Ecstasy, stating that the new emblem will be applied to the brand’s first electric vehicle and the most aerodynamic model to date, the Spectre. The prototype of the Spectre currently has a drag coefficient of 0.26, and it is expected that the appearance of the goddess statue will be redesigned for some aspects, with the factory planning to further improve the coefficient before production.

Rolls-Royce says, “Now, she is a true goddess of speed, moving forward with the wind, one leg forward, body low, her eyes eagerly fixed ahead.” Additionally, perhaps not everyone is aware that the Spirit of Ecstasy, redesigned, is more similar to the original sketch by designer Charles Sykes R.A., and before the redesign, the manufacturer consulted stylists about the icon’s hair, clothing, posture, and expression, aiming to create a goddess figure with a “truly modern feel.”

The all-new Spirit of Ecstasy will start with the Spectre series and will be used on all new models in the future, but the previous Phantom, Ghost, Wraith, Dawn, and Cullinan will continue to use the original design. What impact will the final design have on Spectre and Rolls-Royce? Car enthusiasts, stay tuned!
