Longines once again presents its famous pilot watch series, this time stunningly appearing in a special edition of deep grey paired with black five-grade titanium metal – Pioneer Edition. This brand new design not only inherits the excellent traditions of legendary explorers, but also commemorates the birth of this model in 1935 in a limited edition of 1,935 pieces. The Pioneer Edition is certified by the Swiss Official Observatory (COSC), fully showcasing Longines’ outstanding technical expertise in precision timing.
Longines History and Heritage of Pilot Watches
Since April 1, 1935, Longines has registered the Pilot Majetek model at the International Industrial Property Office in Bern, Switzerland. Originally designed for pilots, this watch has gradually gained public attention for its reliability, durability, and precision. In 2023, Longines reintroduced this series with new technology and ergonomic design features, making this unique pilot watch once again the center of attention.
Innovative Materials and Design
This year’s Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition is made of grade 5 titanium, which is lighter and stronger than steel, limited to 1,935 pieces, paying tribute to the classic. This watch features a grooved bidirectional rotating bezel and a cushion-shaped case, staying true to the original design while adding a modern touch. The 43mm case is engraved with a “1935” commemorative plate, and it houses an innovative gear structure with a water resistance of 10 bar (100 meters).
Longines Exclusive Movement and Precision Timing
Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition Equipped with the exclusive Longines L893.6 movement, featuring a silicon balance spring and innovative components, with anti-magnetic capabilities exceeding the ISO 764 standard by more than 10 times, and boasting a power reserve of up to 72 hours. A chronometer movement certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), undergoing tests for 15 consecutive days in different positions and at three different temperature levels to ensure its accuracy.
Design Details
The new model is equipped with a black matte grain dial, with Arabic numerals treated with gray Super-LumiNova® coating, emitting a blue light, and the railroad track-style minute markers are clearly visible. The hands also feature gray Super-LumiNova® coating, emitting a blue light. The small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock and the grooved bezel highlight the original functional features of this pilot’s watch. Paired with a black technical fabric strap, it complements the vintage-style matching watch box. This limited edition is not only a tribute to history, but also an interpretation of precision craftsmanship.
