Panerai launches the new Submersible Luna Rossa PAM01579 watch, the 6th in the Luna Rossa series presented at the 2024 Watches and Wonders exhibition, as a masterpiece in support of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team’s participation in the 2024 America’s Cup sailing race. The new watch is meticulously crafted by Panerai’s “Creative Lab,” inspired by the innovative technology and competitive spirit of sailing events. The watch features a 42mm matte stainless steel case, a unidirectional rotating steel bezel with a matte black ceramic insert, with ceramic material offering higher resistance to wear than metal, able to withstand impacts or prevent damage from accidental contact with other objects. The robust bezel and stainless steel case make the watch impervious to various environmental factors. With a water resistance of approximately 30 bar (about 300 meters), the watch has undergone rigorous testing under water pressure 25% higher than the guaranteed water resistance depth, ensuring it meets Panerai’s high standards.
The watch is equipped with a P.900 self-winding movement, with a 3-day power reserve. The movement features a stop-seconds function for precise time adjustment. The dial is given a fine grain texture through stamping process, coated with white lacquer for a delicate matte effect. Adorned with Luna Rossa logo, luminescent dots, and bar-shaped hour markers. The red small seconds hand adds a touch of dynamic color to the dial, complementing the Luna Rossa team’s training boat. The screw-in case back ensures the watch can withstand water pressure, with a slow torpedo engraving, a tool used by Italian Navy assault team members in the 1940s for deep-sea missions. The team members wore Panerai watches and instruments at that time. The watch comes with two straps: a gray dual-material strap with bright red stripes paying tribute to Luna Rossa sailing team; and a deep blue rubber strap creating a solid and steady style. The watch was first launched exclusively in Panerai’s Italian boutiques in April, and globally released in June.
