Lamborghini is a dream supercar for many people, and the Squadra Corse car series has become the inspiration for Roger Dubuis watch designs. The newly launched Excalibur Spider Huracán Sterrato MB watch combines racing elements with its own watchmaking craftsmanship.
The watch movement is like the engine of a sports car, and the hexagonal shape of the movement echoes the iconic air intake of the same-named supercar. Between the 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock positions, there are dual barrel boxes inspired by the classic Huracán series, paying homage to the supercar’s multi-fuel tank design.
The inspiration for the inclined balance wheel at the 12 o’clock position comes from the tachometer on the Sterrato sports car dashboard, with the balance wheel and dial plane at a 12-degree angle. This innovative adjustment accommodates the natural position of the wearer’s wrist when placed on a table, bringing the balance wheel closer to a horizontal position.
As for the 45mm watch case, it is made of SMC sheet molding compound carbon fiber material, which is only 1/9 the weight of gold. It is strong, tough, and highly resistant to scratches, meeting the needs of racing drivers.
