As early as the 1960s, Dr. Martens was already an important symbol of British youth culture, loved by musicians and young people. Today, the brand is still very popular, not only as a versatile and easy-to-match pair of shoes, but also as a part of popular culture fashion. From Pharrell Williams to G-Dragon, they are all followers of the brand, representing different styles and values.
Recently, the brand launched a project to document the emotional connection people have built with their Dr. Martens over the course of several years, months, or even decades. One of these individuals is Elijah, who is currently a creative mentor. He has worked as a DJ and artist manager, transitioning from an outsider in the music industry to an educator and expert, and every step has been challenging.
When he looks back on his career, Elijah recalls appearing in a Yellow Squares speech wearing 1460 boots, and now he has the opportunity to wear them on a bigger stage. At the same time, he also guides creatively-minded young people on how to rebel against conventions and carve their own unconventional paths into the music industry through education, using a pair of Dr. Martens to tell their own stories.
