Moncler celebrates its 70th anniversary this year and has invited 7 heavyweight designers to reinterpret the brand’s classic Maya down jacket. One of them, Thom Browne, not only brings a refreshing design but also features Hollywood actor Lee Pace, who played the “Elvenking” in the movie “The Hobbit,” in a stunning photoshoot. Through his cool and unique identity, he interprets the design with great tension.
Thom Browne uses British velvet and glossy nylon to create the Maya down jacket, and incorporates its iconic twisted pleats into it. The asymmetrical cut of the skirt is added to the hem of the long down jacket, showcasing its longstanding genderless style.
And the back of the down jacket is paired with a shirt collar, tie, and open jacket design, making the down jacket look like a sophisticated suit, adding a sense of ceremony to the overall look. When asked about choosing Lee Pace as the image for the photo shoot, Thom Browne said, “I hope to collaborate with confident individuals who have an independent spirit. Lee is like family to me, and I enjoy creating a home-like atmosphere, which feels really good.”
