A unique black shirt is a must-have item in every man’s wardrobe. Yohji Yamamoto, also known as the “Black Poet,” uses his signature black shirts as a canvas to showcase the works of Polish and Japanese artists.
A series of silk shirts printed with different patterns, such as women in uniforms, lyrics written by Yohji Yamamoto, and designs depicting the backs of women. In addition, Yohji Yamamoto also uses the artwork of Polish painter Zdzislaw Beksiński to create collages on the clothing; even seemingly simple white shirts are full of details, with pleated shirts that can change their silhouette by altering the way buttons are fastened, and can even be wrapped around the neck as an accessory.
Some shirts are designed with a drooping style, creating a natural retro feel; the BLACK Scandal series, in collaboration with artist Taishi Hayashi, features dragon and tiger patterns reminiscent of the pictures on Japanese folding screens, full of vitality and lifelike.
