As a representative of the ultimate lifestyle style embodied by Baume & Mercier, the Riviera series officially launches a lively and eye-catching blue look this summer. Inspired by the casual lifestyle art style of the French Riviera, the latest Riviera series symbolizes a refined watchmaking perspective of casualization, allowing users to fully embody the spirit of Baume & Mercier whether in the city or by the seaside.
This time, the brand introduces three models with 42mm Baumatic movement, automatic winding movement, and 36mm quartz movement, allowing the newly launched Riviera to once again establish its unique Mediterranean character.
First introduced is the Baumatic 42mm watch, featuring a smoked blue sapphire crystal dial with a nautical-style mesh pattern decoration. The RIVIERA logo is displayed above the 6 o’clock position, while the BAUMATIC logo appears subtly between 10 and 11 o’clock, balancing dynamic movement with delicate subtlety, immediately evoking the brand’s emphasis on design and desire for bold innovation. The side of the case is paired with a blue anodized aluminum bezel, complemented by colorful lines in the grooves of the crown, echoing the dial’s color scheme and adding a stunning technical feel. In terms of details, the watch is adorned with skeletonized hands, four black sandblasted DLC-coated stainless steel screws, and a stylized Phi logo-style second hand at the end, presenting a highly tensioned line and sporty style case design. Additionally, the watch boasts outstanding waterproof performance, resistant to depths of up to 100 meters.
In terms of movement, the latest Baumatic 42mm watch is equipped with the brand’s in-house BM13 1975A movement, providing up to five days of power reserve, with a remarkable timekeeping accuracy of only -4/+6 seconds per day, and extremely high anti-magnetic force to protect against magnetic field effects. Even if not worn from Thursday night to the following Tuesday morning, the watch will not lose its rhythm or power. In addition, the new Riviera Baumatic 42mm watch comes with a replaceable integrated canvas blue rubber strap, combined with the curved design of the lugs, making it more comfortable to wear.
This marks the brand new 36mm model that swims in the wave of innovation, with its stainless steel case polished and satin-finished, paired with a blue canvas strap featuring the iconic twelve-sided bezel. The new watch is equipped with a “Swiss Made” quartz movement Ronda 714Li with a 10-year battery life, exuding understated charm and unique personality. Its sunburst satin-finished blue dial is like a window to a new world, showcasing distinctive details seen in the series, such as rivet-style Roman numerals and hour markers, and openworked rhodium-plated hour and minute hands. Additionally, the watch can be paired with easily interchangeable composite straps, with a Phi emblem tag in the center of the strap, giving the watch an everlasting and desirable appearance.
The last appearance is the Riviera 42mm self-winding watch, setting a brand new lifestyle tone for Baume & Mercier’s summer.
The most recognizable feature of this work is the use of blue and green as the design main tones for the watch, and the brand uses this to highlight the meticulous craftsmanship of the Riviera series. The 42mm diameter case is made of stainless steel, polished and satin-finished, making its surface reflect light more, and forming a beautiful contrast with the four black screws fixed on the twelve-sided bezel. The modern and classic multi-layer sun satin-finished blue dial highlights the second hand with a Phi emblem shape at the end, which is a striking green color. The new watch extends the two-tone style to the strap, with a canvas surface designed with “green-blue-green” stripes, and a green Phi logo fabric tag sewn along the edge. As for the movement, this Riviera automatic stainless steel watch is equipped with an SW200 movement, providing 38 hours of power reserve, with time, minute, second, and date display functions, presented in a twelve-sided blue sapphire crystal glass case back; in terms of water resistance, the watch is waterproof up to a depth of 100 meters.
Featuring a distinctive twelve-sided bezel that can be recognized at a glance, the Riviera watch has embodied Baume & Mercier’s expertise in design and material application since its inception in 1973. Making a strong comeback last year, the Riviera watch has captured the hearts of watch enthusiasts, embodying a spirit of freedom, alternative elegance, and a certain watchmaking philosophy. The stainless steel silhouette exudes the outstanding charm of a gentleman’s watch on the wrist.
