Entering the second half of 2022, the century-old French leather craftsmanship brand BERLUTI officially released its 2022 autumn/winter collection, telling the story of Parisian craftsmanship originating from Italy. In this new collection, the design team envisions BERLUTI gentlemen strolling through the streets of Paris, from the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district to the gardens of the Royal Palace, and then elegantly walking through the arcades of Rue de Rivoli by the Seine, searching for the origins of style in every corner of Paris.
This season, as always, includes a variety of creative, classic, and unique iconic clothing, leather goods, and footwear. BERLUTI’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection is presented in a more relaxed, fluid, and casual style, with the brand’s proudest footwear designs combining classic shoemaking techniques with high-quality leather, Patina ancient hand-dyeing techniques, and rich colors to outline a modern silhouette that interprets classic elegance.
In terms of footwear choices, the collection will feature classic Alessandro shoes, Monk Oxford shoes, Démesure boots, Fast Track casual shoes, and the newly introduced Playoff sneakers. Berluti once again focuses on the Drapé technique, outlining a series of footwear with dynamic curves inspired by the classical sculptures, paintings, and sketches in art history. The rounded edges of Venezia leather are layered and folded to create rich drapes and a luxurious bespoke texture. As for the Playoff sneakers available in both high-top and low-top styles, they are made of supple Venezia leather and hand-dyed using the Patina coloring technique to present shades ranging from black (Nero Grigio), honey, steel blue (Steel Blue), to purple blue (Purple Blue), with contrasting leather trim on the sole for a distinctive look.
It is worth mentioning that the newly launched Aspen hiking boots pay tribute to the spirit of adventure. BERLUTI cleverly combines different materials with caramel-colored Venzia leather, paired with the essential Vibram® professional rubber outsole for outdoor functional footwear, making a real hiking boot. Finally, the brand’s iconic Ultima footwear also makes a comeback in this collection.
Fashion once again becomes a reinterpretation of luxury and vitality for BERLUTI, with the series turning patina-dyed leather into bomber jackets, paired with a range of suits and trousers, maintaining tones in black, coffee fudge, and cognac, embellished with pocket flaps with Scritto patterns, classic Un Jour tote bag handles, and zipper details. Lazy baseball leather jackets, wool shearling casual hooded jackets, cashmere hooded sweatshirts, layered with handmade leather parkas, all showcasing a casual style. The signature design behind the knitwear incorporates the classic leather straps from Andy loafers, while the design team this season uses the Scritto pattern to embellish the sleeves of jackets with jacquard craftsmanship, or integrates it in a different way into the weaving or knitting styles of windbreakers, sweaters, and shirts, echoing the distinct lines, sharp cuts, and functional focus of a gentleman’s wardrobe. In terms of color, from burnt, russet, camel, to smoky grey or beige, highlighting the beauty of the brand and the details of the 1895 Berluti Paris brand.
Since its establishment, leather design has always been an essential part of BERLUTI’s brand, showcasing the brand’s eternal design and exquisite craftsmanship. This season, the brand reinterprets the classic Un Jour and Toujours handbags in a smoky dyed manner, presenting unique Steel Blue and Elephant Grey colors. The leather folds of the Un Jour Mini briefcase, Toujours Neo handbag, Un Jour Neo briefcase, and Un Jour Nino tote are even deeper in tone, cleverly echoing the footwear collection. In addition, as an extension of the JourSofty series, four products are introduced in a new SoftBrown color, including the F088 briefcase, Overnight casual tote, Journalie messenger bag, and Rider crossbody bag. The versatile E’Mio briefcase also features a new design on its iconic lock, adding a lock to the rounded silhouette body. The new design also includes a detachable shoulder strap on the back, enhancing usability.
As the most representative craftsmanship of BERLUTI, the art of hand-dyed Patina has also become one of the highlights in this collection. BERLUTI has added a variety of new color choices to the brand’s Patina craftsmanship, such as the new Charcoal Brown, which combines gray, brown, and black tones; or unique colors like Steel Blue, Elephant Grey, Saint Emilion, showcasing BERLUTI’s imaginative color creativity.
