This year in March, Panerai unveiled a series of new creations made from sustainable materials at Watches and Wonders, including the brand’s 5th perpetual calendar. Earlier in the month, the brand even hinted at the release of another limited edition Radiomir Eilean sailboat experience watch, with only 50 pieces available globally, while also announcing its official entry into the NFT digital art field. Today, Panerai officially announced the details of this ambitious plan.
The project is named Genesis NFTs, a collaboration between Panerai and the famous Italian interdisciplinary artist Skygolpe. They will transform the NFT artworks created by the latter into a part of the Radiomir Eilean sailboat experience edition watch, combined with customers sailing to tour the Amalfi Coast, creating a unique experience exclusive to Panerai.
Regarding the exclusive NFT created by Skygolpe, all 50 pieces are unique artworks, and customers can receive one of them in their digital wallet after purchasing the Radiomir Eilean limited edition watch. As one of the earliest famous NFT artists, Skygolpe admires the brand’s aesthetic sensitivity: “I really identify with the idea of modern heroes, which is closely related to my artistic research. I also like to contrast human heroism with its vulnerability. The energy released through this dichotomy is the essence of life and existence.” Through this collaboration, Skygolpe hopes to convey a message through this NFT art series: “The meaning of my work is always defined by the audience.”
As for the highlight of this time – the limited edition Radiomir Eilean sailing experience watch, numbered PAM1244, is a 45mm diameter watch that inherits the classic appearance of the 20th century, 1930s Radiomir series in its design. The details are the focus of the entire watch, derived from the visible bronze decorations on the outer ring of the case and the case back, which are a fusion of the same decorations found during the restoration of the Eilean. The most prominent blue striped satin dial is a reference to the deck of the Eilean sailing ship, and the word pattern “Eilean 1936” is also engraved on the left side of the case, perfectly presenting the Eilean on top of the Panerai Radiomir. In terms of price, according to the brand, it is approximately HKD 302,500.
