Last week, Mercedes-AMG revealed a brand new SL model is about to debut, and there are reports questioning whether the manufacturer will launch the new car in the US market. The latter did not directly deny this rumor, which has made people curious about how popular the new car will be once it is released. This will be a Mercedes-AMG SL43 Roadster with a brand new powertrain system and F1 technology.
According to reports, this Mercedes-AMG SL43 will be equipped with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and a 48W electric energy boost technology derived from the F1 team of the factory, with a horsepower output of up to 389 hp and torque close to 480 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. It will replace the V8 engine configuration that has been used in the past. Technically, this M139 engine will be the first model in the same series to feature an electric exhaust turbocharging configuration, and the operation of the turbocharging component will combine and coordinate the engine and turbocharger to help the car provide better and more responsive throttle response during acceleration, while also generating stronger torque at lower speeds.
The all-new SL43 incorporates hybrid technology commonly used in F1 teams, allowing for an additional 14 horsepower from the hybrid system. With its electronic nine-speed dual-clutch transmission, the kinetic energy can be unleashed instantly and fully transferred to the rear wheels. It is worth noting that according to official figures, the new SL43 can deliver maximum torque at around 3,250 RPM.
As for the appearance, the all-new SL43 has a higher recognition in the same series, thanks to the new car adorned with the “SL43” badge, new angular exhaust outlets, and unique front and rear aprons. In addition, the new car will offer 20” or 21” wheel options in addition to the standard 19” wheels. In terms of the built-in system, it is equipped with AMG’s own adjustable dampers, rear axle steering, and so on.
However, what is known is that the SL43 will be launched after the Mercedes-AMG SL55 and SL63, and the official pricing has not yet been announced, but it can be confirmed that it will be cheaper than the previous two – SL55 and SL63. With F1 technology, high performance, and a slightly lower price, with these conditions, it is believed that it will attract many car owners in Hong Kong.
