BALENCIAGA Spring 2022 collection advertisement leads fashion into the super natural generation.

BALENCIAGA recently released its latest SS22 series advertising campaign, with its unique creative styling once again catching attention, as if Demna Gvasalia, after the glamorous display of Couture, wanted to remind everyone that his BALENCIAGA is always full of “experimental” spirit.

In this advertising campaign, BALENCIAGA presents several looks that made their debut at a virtual fashion show, including the highly talked-about “The Hacker Project” series. Following the collaboration with sister brand Gucci on the Gucci Aria collection, BALENCIAGA unveiled The Hacker Project series in June this year, reinterpreting Gucci’s iconic elements through its own design perspective. The campaign also features various BALENCIAGA x Gucci collaboration pieces, as well as the BALENCIAGA Crocs 2.0 collection, a renewed partnership with Crocs offering the Crocs Madame high-heeled sandals and Crocs knee-high boots, along with the iconic new BALENCIAGA Runner sneakers.

The advertising campaign brought in photographer Andrea Artemisio to shoot, and invited Ikeuchi Hiroto, known as the “model artist” in Japan, to collaborate, incorporating his iconic mechanical face mask into various looks, complemented by new clothing, jewelry, handbags, and footwear, creating a highly avant-garde atmosphere. It is worth mentioning that a exoskeleton suit designed by Ikeuchi Hiroto in collaboration with the robot manufacturer Skeletonics for the SS22 collection will be exhibited at the reopening of the BALENCIAGA flagship store in Tokyo Aoyama, while the rest of the pieces will be displayed at other specialty stores in Japan and the Montaigne store in Paris.

In addition, the SS22 series also shot a promotional short film directed by artist Yilmaz Sen, featuring models wearing SS22 collection outfits, moving in and out of rooms that are not connected. The linear camera shots also showcase special landscapes outside each room, such as flashing neon lights in the metropolis, distant islands, natural wonders, and supernatural phenomena. The closing line of the film, “Here is Anywhere,” directly summarizes the series’ theme of reality and omnipresence.
