IWC’s two new Ceratanium® ceramic titanium metal works, iconic TOP GUN series black tone transformation.

IWC watch fans take note, the iconic TOP GUN series has recently released two new watches, both of which are made with IWC’s own developed Ceratanium special alloy, namely the Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium and Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN.

Regarding the innovative material Ceratanium, successfully developed by IWC in 2017 and first applied to the TOP GUN series in 2019, it is a material that combines the structural integrity of titanium metal, the scratch-resistant properties of ceramics, but presents a matte black effect. In terms of production, the raw material is first processed into watch case parts using a computer-controlled milling machine to minimize tolerances, then carefully hand-finished, and finally placed in an oven for high-temperature firing. The key lies in the phase transformation effect that occurs during the firing process, as through this transformation, the material surface not only forms ceramic-like hard, scratch-resistant properties, but also produces a strikingly unique matte black color.

As for the Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium watch (model IW395505), equipped with the 82760 self-made movement, its ceramic-reinforced Beleton winding system provides 60 hours of power reserve. It is also the first TOP GUN Navy Air Combat Force watch equipped with the Timezoner® world time zone complex function; displaying different time zones only requires rotating the bezel for easy operation and setting, with the hour hand, 24-hour display, and date all in hourly units.

The new watch case is made entirely of Ceratanium®, with a ceramic “24 city ring”, gray numbers on the dial, and luminous material on the 12, 3, 6, and 9 hour markers. The Ceratanium case, black ceramic bezel, and black rubber strap with fabric lining all highlight the black military style. Additionally, the production of this TOP GUN Ceratanium world time zone watch is limited to only 500 pieces per year.

Another masterpiece, the Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN (model IW503604), with the case, crown, and bracelet all made of Ceratanium®. The bracelet part of the new model is about 30% lighter than previous stainless steel styles, making it feel lighter and more comfortable to wear. Equipped with the IWC in-house 52615 caliber, it provides a seven-day power reserve through a double barrel, with the base movement advancing the perpetual calendar once a night, without the need for adjustment until the year 2100.

Furthermore, the watch has a moon phase display, which can show the moon phases of the northern and southern hemispheres, and only needs to be corrected for one day every 577.5 years. Similarly, the Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN with a matte black dial and grey numerals, according to IWC data, is limited to only 150 pieces produced annually.

The latest Ceratanium watches from TOP GUN are now available for purchase at IWC boutiques or on the official IWC.com website. Additionally, by registering for the My IWC program, owners of these two watches can enjoy an additional six-year extension to the standard two-year international limited warranty. TOP GUN series watch enthusiasts, do not miss out on this latest masterpiece of the Black Soul.
