The new Tudor Royal series continues the elegant style of the 1950s and is sure to be a top choice for a dress watch.

When it comes to Tudor watches, perhaps the Black Bay series, the 70s Oysterdate series, or even the more seasoned watch enthusiasts will be more familiar with the Oyster Prince series, while the Tudor Royal series may be less known. Recently, Tudor brand ambassador Jay Chou once again took on the role of the brand’s spokesperson, and it was his first time directing and starring in a Tudor ad. The watch series that has the honor of being featured is not the popular Black Bay series that has seen a recent surge in popularity, but rather the Royal series with a different style.

In line with the pursuit of the ultimate Royal series, this time it can be said to be full of sincerity, Tudor brings us 4 sizes and 9 dial design choices at once, while also providing material options of stainless steel and gold steel styles. It can be seen that the brand’s appearance standards for the Royal series are higher than other styles, definitely worthy of being the most fashionable series among Tudor’s new works.

Actually, the name Royal did not just appear in 2020. As early as the 1950s, Tudor had already named its watches with this name, hoping to embody the brand’s pursuit of elegant and stylish watchmaking craftsmanship. In 1961, they even specially designed a women’s watch made of 9ct yellow gold, with the words “Tudor Royal” and the iconic War of Rose rose logo directly on the dial. The oval shape of the watch case made the watch stand out among various Tudor watches at that time, showing a unique beauty and style.

After more than half a century, the newly launched Tudor Royal series this year has once again elevated its style and design, with the focus inevitably falling on its fluted bezel. In terms of design, the appearance of the metal bracelet and fluted bezel creates a layered visual effect on the watch, which becomes more pronounced under sunlight. In addition, the design of the “five-link section” bracelet fully echoes the pursuit of maintaining an elegant style from years past.

Although the Royal watch exudes a significant sense of fashion, its functionality is by no means inferior to other series. In the 1950s, when watches were introduced, it was precisely the era in which Tudor pursued innovative concepts such as noise, ultra-thin waterproofing, and directly because of the above inventions that Tudor gained the favor of the US Navy at the end of the 1950s. Therefore, the new Royal series equipped with the 2834 automatic winding movement still maintains quality, with features such as the “big three hands” and date display function, greatly improving readability.

Finally, if you still remember, you should recall that earlier this year Tudor announced that they will be extending the warranty period to five years for all products sold after January 1, 2020, including the new Tudor Royal series. Most importantly, this year’s Tudor Royal series is also quite affordable, with prices starting at HK$17,000, making it a great choice for a dress watch.
