The new H.Moser & Cie. Streamliner series features a new three-hand watch with ergonomic design, breaking the traditional sports watch impression with its all stainless steel “integrated” design!

When it comes to the design of stainless steel watches, weight and comfort have always been the top priorities for major brands, followed by research and development on the movement and appearance. Independent watchmaker H.Moser & Cie has recently made a breakthrough, introducing the new Streamliner Centre Seconds three-hand watch to the iconic Streamliner series. Moreover, Moser has officially showcased the conceptual soul of the Streamliner series through this new piece.

Since the beginning of the year, after the highly anticipated release of the Streamliner’s first work, “Flyback Chronograph,” the outside world has reinterpreted sports watches, especially when the Streamliner is equipped with the AgenGraphe movement developed by Jean-Marc Wiederrech, the founder of the independent movement factory Agenhor. The functional standards of sports watches have been raised to another level. However, what left a deep impression on the watch industry is Moser’s futuristic case design for the Streamliner. This watch, inspired by the streamlined trains of the 20s and 30s, references the design breakthroughs of that era in terms of name, appearance, and technology. Moser not only crafted the case entirely from stainless steel but also created the brand’s first stainless steel bracelet. From the case to the bracelet, Moser designed it based on ergonomic concepts, interpreting the contour details of streamlined trains. This design makes the watch more comfortable and snug compared to traditional stainless steel bracelets.

The introduction of the new Streamliner Centre Seconds watch marks a more refined interpretation of the Streamliner series design concept. What changes does Moser bring to this new piece?

This time, Moser has finally equipped the brand’s new three-hand watch with the brand’s proudest smoked dial. Moser has also intentionally matched the new Matrix Green aurora green color, allowing the dial to show olive green and even red-gold layers under natural light. Paired with a stainless steel case, the watch exudes a futuristic feel. As for the 3D hands indicating hours and minutes, they are embedded with an innovative ceramic base material Globolight® containing Super-LumiNova® luminescent material, with the hands in a curved shape.

In terms of key aspects, the focus is of course on the appearance design of the watch. As mentioned at the beginning, the new three-hand watch thoroughly interprets the concept soul of the Streamliner series. Starting from the thickness of the watch, Moser reduced it to a thinning of the case to 40mm in diameter, while maintaining a water resistance of 120 meters. The dial is covered with a slightly arched sapphire crystal.

In order to push the streamlined design of the watch to the extreme, Moser designed this new three-hand watch with the concept of “integrated” ergonomics, extending from the case to the bracelet. The contours follow the curves of the human wrist, and the complex structure of the bracelet is designed according to the shape of the wrist. The links are connected by hinges, preventing the bracelet from easily bulging, and the wavy curved lines allow the bracelet to fit perfectly on the wrist, making it convenient and flexible to wear. Additionally, the bracelet undergoes vertical brushing, while the grooves between the links are polished. When viewed vertically from the front, the two textures create a layered visual effect. Perhaps not everyone knows that the Streamliner series alone took the Moser team a full 5 years to develop. This seemingly simple sports watch has already reached the highest level of technology, fully embodying the precise requirements of a three-hand watch.

Finally, in terms of the movement, the Streamliner three-hand watch is equipped with Moser’s in-house developed HMC 200 automatic movement, with its regulating organs manufactured by Precision Engineering AG, adorned with the famous Moser double stripes, paired with Straumann hairspring and a gold escapement, ensuring a power reserve of at least three days.

Moreover, what’s more important is that in the second installment of the Streamliner series, Moser finally no longer produces brand new three-hand watches in limited quantities, with a price of HK$169,000, which is unexpectedly attractive. If you have been looking for a watch that can be considered both a dress watch and a sports watch, I believe this new piece from Moser will definitely earn your vote of confidence.
