【Top New Year Destinations 2024】4 Great Waterfront Photo Spots from Wan Chai to North Point! Lunar New Year Installations/Fancy Dragon and Lion Dance Performances

This Lunar New Year, in addition to checking in at major shopping mall installations, you can also experience the festive atmosphere at the waterfront! The Development Bureau and the Harbourfront Commission are bringing the “New Dimension of the Waterfront • Patchwork Life Mosaic” limited-time installation and activities during the Year of the Dragon, combining light and shadow, weaving art, nostalgia, and fun interactive elements!

The Lunar New Year installation at the waterfront venue embodies the concept of lucky clover puzzle, symbolizing auspiciousness, health, joy, and wealth. This includes the 9-meter-high inflatable “Chill Landmark!” installation at Wan Chai’s “HarbourChill Waterfront Leisure Station,” featuring a red and pink dual-sided design. In addition to being a must-visit spot for the upcoming Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day, visitors can also rotate the giant three-dimensional puzzle to use different blessing phrases as photo backgrounds!

In Wan Chai’s “Water Sports and Recreation Theme Zone,” there is a 6-meter-tall “Golden Chocolate Iron Treasure Robot,” with the prototype being the Iron Treasure Box™ created by Hong Kong trendy toy designer Lock, featuring the Iron Treasure holding money with a chocolate “Fu” skin and a love blessing wand, symbolizing a house full of gold. Next to it are 7 Iron Treasure robot installations in the shape of Hong Kong-style milk tea, minibus, retro telephone, tram, red minibus, cassette player, and retro mailbox, brimming with Hong Kong sentiment.

Arriving at the “Vibrant Typhoon Shelter Theme Zone” in Causeway Bay, you can turn your luck in front of the 6-meter-high “Rising Fortune Tree” installation, with a trunk with six facets symbolizing the six sides of a gem, endless possibilities, perfect for 360-degree photo opportunities! The lucky grass puzzle on the branches will also spin with the sea breeze, bringing good luck! In the North Point “East Coast Park Theme Zone,” there is also a unique, 120-meter-long “Dragon Weaving Victoria Harbour” immersive art installation, with a locally young artist’s dragon head installation reaching up to 5 meters high, paired with a shiny and colorful dragon body, leaping in Victoria Harbour!

In addition to check-ins, the above locations will hold the “Seaside Dragon Welcoming and Blessing for the New Year” event on February 17th, featuring elaborate dragon and lion dance performances. The first stop at Wan Chai’s “HarbourChill Seaside Leisure Station” will have an eye-dotting ceremony and children’s Chinese New Year song singing, while the final stop at North Point’s “East Coast Park Theme Area” will feature rainbow calligraphy, flour figurines, dragon beard candy, and other handicraft workshops. The program is rich and diverse!
