Doing nothing, feeling like time is being wasted, so why not explore some good places in Hong Kong, experience the uniqueness of Hong Kong, and The Peak is a good place. This chapter will introduce the features of The Peak, hoping to facilitate everyone’s leisure activities.

A little information

Victoria Peak, also known as Mount Austin and The Peak, is located in the western part of Hong Kong Island, belonging to the Central and Western District. Standing at 552 meters high, it is the highest point on Hong Kong Island. Since the opening of Hong Kong, from 1867 to 1930, the summit of Victoria Peak was the location of the Governor’s residence, making it a symbol and landmark of Hong Kong. Even today, those who reside on Victoria Peak are still considered wealthy and prestigious.

Overlooking stunning views

The most outstanding feature of the Peak in Tai Ping Shan is the excellent view of Victoria Harbour from the mountaintop, combined with the Peak Tram and the Peak Tower, making it the most important tourist attraction in Hong Kong, always beloved by visitors. At the same time, due to the relatively easy climbing level of Tai Ping Shan, it also attracts numerous citizens to hike for leisure on holidays. The night view of Tai Ping Shan is renowned worldwide, becoming one of the top three night views in the world.

Mountain Peak Cable Car

Peak Tram

Although there are countless ways to reach the summit of Victoria Peak, including taking bus number 15 or hiking up, most people would agree that the Peak Tram is the best way to reach the top. With a history of over 135 years, the Peak Tram was opened in 1888. The railway is 1,278 meters long and is one of the oldest funicular railway systems in the world, making it a unique experience in Hong Kong.

The mountain cable car only takes about 6 minutes to climb from an altitude of 33 meters to 396 meters along the slope, quickly passing through the trees on both sides, offering views of scenery that are usually hard to see.

When it comes to the mountaintop, of course, we have to mention the scenery on the mountaintop. As the highest peak of Hong Kong Island, even just staying on the mountaintop and looking down, you can see the beautiful scenery of the entire Victoria Harbour, which is truly breathtaking.

If you want to further experience, you can also go to the Sky Terrace on the peak of the Peak, located at an altitude of 428 meters, overlooking the pleasant scenery of the lush mountains below, and feel the day and night of the entire Victoria Harbour. And after nightfall, the lights on both sides of Victoria Harbour are bright, adding a different charm, experiencing the world of the “Pearl of the Orient.”

On Victoria Peak, besides the scenery, there is a unique place. As Victoria Peak is close to Hong Kong Island, the reason why a large number of citizens have always loved hiking is because of the beautiful views when hiking up and down the mountain. Unlike the Victoria Harbour view seen from the peak, the beautiful mountain forest scenery when hiking up and down integrates people with nature, calming the mind and harmonizing with the universe.
