The new store is located in the heart of Tai Kok Tsui, witnessing the alternation of old and new in Hong Kong. The concept of the store’s decoration is closely related to this, drawing inspiration from the historic Tai Kok Tsui shipyard, using leaning window glass design to allow direct sunlight to shine in, creating a bright and natural reading environment. In addition, the ceiling is decorated with wave patterns and giant columns imitating ship funnels, with maritime elements visible everywhere. What’s more, the new store also features a reading area, allowing book lovers to leisurely wander in the sea of books.

The new store has a total of over 40,000 books, covering a wide range of topics as always. In addition, the store also has a special platform for recommending a large proportion of key books from a professional perspective, making it easier for everyone to find best-selling books.

In order to enhance the public’s reading interest, the store will also regularly hold themed book fairs. The first wave of book list themes is “Reflecting Hong Kong”, using different aspects of Hong Kong such as history, housing, movies, etc. as entry points, and each pair of books reflects the old and new eras of Hong Kong. This includes works by many Hong Kong writers such as Liu Yichang, Yi Shu, etc., allowing every Hong Kong person to reminisce about the past and present.

In addition, the design incorporates the theme of “ships,” with decorations inspired by sunlight and seagulls, creating a fun and enjoyable environment for children to read in.

As everyone knows, Eslite Bookstore not only sells books but also offers exquisite stationery and snacks, and the new store is no exception. The store focuses on lifestyle products, introducing a variety of local and overseas cultural and creative brands, including Hong Kong design brand Studio Zao’s handmade ceramic artworks and utensils, Taiwan’s HMM design lifestyle products, and Japan’s letterpress brand Kyupodo stationery, adding a richer artistic atmosphere to your life.
It is also worth mentioning that the new store has collaborated with local printing brand Ditto ditto to launch a limited edition stationery set themed around Lion Rock and Chinese white dolphins, echoing the nautical theme of the store and the special exhibition “Reflecting Hong Kong.”
