Sanrio’s popular character Hello Kitty is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has been appointed as the “International Goodwill Ambassador” for Harbour City. Together with Harbour City, Hello Kitty will be hosting a anniversary celebration event called “HELLO KITTY · HAPPY 50 @ Harbour City” this month, and will also be launching a series of limited edition merchandise exclusive to the event. Hello Kitty fans should not miss out!
Some of the Hello Kitty merchandise has been announced, including the 50th anniversary zodiac commemorative gold coin and collector’s wooden box set. Limited to 500 sets worldwide, it is now available for pre-sale on the Harbour City online platform.
The wooden box is shaped like a giant Hello Kitty bow, with a hidden “50” on the red bow on the box. Inside the box, there is also a Hello Kitty 50th anniversary logo, and it contains 12 individually packaged gold coins in the shape of Hello Kitty, each showcasing a different zodiac sign. The gold coins are also available for individual purchase and can be stored in a Hello Kitty Daruma doll, which has a cute design with a red apple on its head.
Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary celebration also brings the “Every flower tells a story” art exhibition, where different renowned artists and organizations collaborate to create a floral world of Hello Kitty. This includes a limited edition collection of 20 designs, featuring a Hello Kitty art sculpture by William Chan Design in collaboration with Bull & Stein. The sculptures are approximately 33 centimeters tall and handcrafted by top European craftsmen, using Swiss patented pigments for coloring. The set includes 10 colors, including a special edition in gold and silver.
In addition, Hello Kitty has also collaborated with Kee Wah Bakery to launch three candy cookie gift boxes. They are packaged in Hello Kitty-printed hard cardboard tote bags, coin purses, and tin boxes respectively. Customers can first choose the gift box and then select their favorite candy cookies at the candy bar. The dreamy candy house will open in late January, which is highly anticipated!
