Learn these 6 skincare tips to make your beloved scented candles last longer!

Whether it’s coming home to enjoy Me Time after a long day of work, or adding style to your home, many people like to place scented candles at home to create a comforting atmosphere through healing scents and change their mood. However, if you have the habit of burning scented candles, have you ever thought about how to make your favorite scent last longer and more evenly, while also making the scented candle last longer? Check out the following 6 tips for maintaining scented candles!

1. Regularly trim candle wicks

The wick of the candle is too long, it will cause the flame to be too strong when lit, causing the candle to burn faster, which will lead to the appearance of black smoke, so before lighting the scented candle each time, trim the wick by about 0.5cm, this can avoid the problem of black smoke, and make the scented candle more “long-lasting”.

2. The burning time is at least 2 hours

So, does reducing the burning time extend the “life” of scented candles? In fact, when the burning time is too short, scented candles often only melt a small portion in the middle, while other areas remain unburned, causing a hole in the center of the scented candle. The hole will deepen with each burning, leading to wastage of the surrounding wax due to incomplete burning. Therefore, when using scented candles, it is best to continue burning for at least 2 hours to allow the surface of the candle to melt evenly and maintain its smoothness.

3. Avoid placing near air vents.

Can scented candles be placed anywhere in the home? In fact, where you place them can affect how the candle burns and the scent it gives off! Avoid placing scented candles near windows, air vents, or other drafty areas, as the draft may cause the candle to burn too quickly, create uneven melting, and make the scent spread too quickly.

4. Avoid blowing out candles directly

Do you blow out the candle directly every time after using scented candles? Although this is convenient, it can easily cause the wax to splatter, as well as create black smoke and a burnt smell. To prevent the scented candles and surrounding items from being “contaminated,” it is recommended to cover them with a candle snuffer until the flame naturally extinguishes due to lack of oxygen, or use a dedicated wick trimmer to extinguish the flame.

5. Don’t forget to adjust the wick.

Candle holders often appear blackened? The reason is that the wick is too close to the edge of the candle holder, so after each time the scented candle is lit, before the candle solidifies again, you can extinguish the candle and adjust the wick back to the middle position, which helps prevent the candle holder from blackening.

6. Unavoidable storage method

Do you have the habit of neglecting scented candles after extinguishing them? Doing so may affect the quality and fragrance of the candles! After each use, remember to cover scented candles with a lid or glass cover, or place them in a box to prevent the fragrance from evaporating and dust from settling. Also, store scented candles in a cool place.
