This upstairs café is located next to the Canal Road Flyover in Causeway Bay. The café used to be called Mamaday, but recently rebranded as Zip Zip to showcase its new brand. Not only is the location convenient, but there are surprises everywhere!
Starting from the staircase at the entrance, you can already check-in. The corridor is filled with nostalgic and playful posters with sarcastic phrases. Inside the café, it is very bright and comfortable! Every table and corner are visually overwhelming, with words, toy displays, and unique features in every position.
Open the menu, the whimsical and playful style continues in every page design, even in the names of the dishes. The dish of chicken wings is called “Remember, the higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment… chicken wings”, and the onion rings are called “Ordinary to the point of being extraordinarily ordinary fried onion rings”. The menu at Café is very comprehensive, with a wide selection of main courses in addition to snacks and desserts. There are many choices of pizza, pasta, rice, and meat dishes.
The carnivorous recommendation is the “Slow-cooked 28,888-second honey lemongrass pork neck”. The drinks include coffee, specialty drinks, cocktails, etc., and the most popular one is the “Have you heard of Tiramisu” ($56), which turns tiramisu into a coffee drink, with a smooth and creamy cheese foam on top.
Zip Zip also has an online bakery, where they offer their homemade Madeleine and cakes for customers to pre-order. One of their offerings is the Early Grey Woven ($288 and up), which features Earl Grey tea cheesecake inside and a fresh cream topping that resembles the texture of a knitted sweater. It has a delicate and elegant appearance.
There are also crispy and buttery madeleine cakes with various flavors ($25/piece) in addition to the original flavor, including molten strawberry, matcha sesame from Ko Shan Garden, rich chocolate, honey lemon, hazelnut butter, and Earl Grey chocolate. Pre-order 2-4 days in advance.
