Agnes is not only a versatile fashion designer, but also equally passionate about various arts, and “A Trip to the Moon” is one of her favorite movies. This is a 1902 French adventure film directed by the father of special effects in film, Georges Méliès, and is also the first science fiction short film in history. The story tells of 6 astronomers embarking on an expedition to explore the surface of the moon, and in the end, bringing back a Selenite to Earth, creating a strange and miraculous event. The scene in the film where the spacecraft hits the eye of the moon has become the most classic image.
agnès b. CAFÉ’s “Moon Smile” Mid-Autumn Mooncake Gift Box launched this year takes the surreal world from the movie as a design inspiration, with the gift box packaging printed with the artistic “Moon Smile” created with movie special effects, along with other scenes copied from the hand-drawn film rolls restored in 2011, bringing out a nostalgic classic atmosphere, complemented by the round design of the gift box, symbolizing reunion during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
“The Moon Smiles” gift box is available in 4-piece and 8-piece sets, with a choice of lava custard mooncake and lava chocolate mooncake flavors, the former being sweet but not greasy, while the latter is smooth and rich.
