Every December, the color authority Pantone announces the latest representative color. Following last year’s “Very Peri,” the chosen color for 2023 is Pantone 18-1750 “Viva Magenta.” This is a vibrant magenta shade that falls between deep red and purple, exuding a bold, individualistic, and rebellious vibe. It symbolizes fearless confidence, abundant energy, and passion.
Pantone Vice President Leatrice Eiseman said, “With the development of the internet generation, the virtual world has become a part of life, so we hope to return to reality and draw inspiration from nature and real things.” Pantone takes inspiration from nature and uses the cochineal insect, which was commonly used to make lipstick in the past, as the theme to create the “Viva Magenta” color with its rich red tones.
