Creative Director Jonathan Anderson once again showcases his expertise in abstract and playful techniques in the Loewe Fall/Winter 2024 women’s collection, this time taking an outsider’s perspective. Drawing inspiration from the small yet powerful paintings of American artist Albert York, the collection explores class issues through clothing, expressing symbols of class and wealth through a unique lens.
Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2024 women’s show creates a space like a maze or an art gallery, with the entire space covered in three layers of green shades, featuring 18 works by American painter Albert York, echoing the lush greenery in the paintings.
Jonathan Anderson uses a straightforward and abstract approach to express symbols of class and wealth, featuring ceramic vessels mimicking real fruits and vegetables that were once found in high society, as well as works known as “trompe l’oeil ceramics,” all in a humorous way that has become a highlight of this season’s designs.
Referencing the formal wear style of students from Eton College in the UK; beloved dogs turned into mosaic decorations on rings or prints on skirts, wood carvings turned into coat collars, living room floral tapestries transformed into beaded embellishments on skirts or directly printed on pants; caviar-colored small beads appear in large quantities on clothing, combining unconventional designs with delicate craftsmanship.
Designers once again combine perfect outerwear with flowing casual pants, ties with sculpted mini skirts, straight lines with dimensional cuts, and use elements such as soft and flowing shirt dresses as the foundation paired with flat shorts designs, highlighting the contrast between strength and soft lines.
Leather craftsmanship has always been an important part of Loewe’s fashion aesthetics: draped nappa leather jackets, leather aviator jackets, illusion ostrich leather prints that are as magical as they are real, and button decorations that are exquisitely handcrafted.
The popular Flamenco bag brings a new large-size Flamenco Purse style, with more colors and leather options; the Squeeze handbag continues the clothing design, with caviar-colored small round beads, creating various peacock, leaf, and vegetable totems, like a work of art, among them the asparagus-shaped handbag is gorgeous yet quirky.
