John Galliano’s Maison Margiela 2024 Spring/Summer haute couture collection has become the most spectacular show of the season! From the venue design, lighting, clothing, makeup, music, to every small detail, everything is seamlessly coordinated. This extraordinary haute couture feast once again allows everyone to experience Galliano’s creativity and aesthetics.
The inspiration for this collection comes from the Parisian nightclubs and the underworld life depicted by photographer Brassai in the 1920s and 1930s. Each model embodies different characters, with deconstructed silhouettes and details complementing each other. The collection features extremely tight corsets, exaggerated swollen hips, and sexy transparent latex skirts, paired with doll-like makeup, creating a dark and mysterious atmosphere with a classical theatrical effect.
Meticulous attention to detail is not only seen in the clothing, but also in the Tabi shoes on the feet. This time, John Galliano has collaborated with the prestigious shoe brand Christian Louboutin, basing the designs on traditional clothing and creating six custom-made shoe styles that combine the distinctive elements of both brands. Each shoe style is adorned with Christian Louboutin’s iconic red sole.
The high-end shoe collection this time adopts the brand’s iconic Tabi split-toe design to celebrate Maison Margiela Atelier’s exceptional craftsmanship. The high heels feature a thick forefoot and an elevated three-dimensional toe, imitating the shape of a horseshoe, thereby echoing the design language of reshaping the body silhouette in the collection. The three-dimensional shoe heel, inspired by a hip pad, also makes the proportion of the high heels more exaggerated and eye-catching.
Brand founder and designer Christian Louboutin said, “I met John about 40 years ago when he had just moved to Paris. The wonderful thing about this collaboration is being able to create together with someone I love and respect, and I can also draw inspiration from Maison Margiela’s well-preserved, precise and distinct design elements.”
This fashion show gathered a group of celebrities, including famous British actress Gwendoline Christie, Kim Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner, as special guests. Each of them wore unique designs from the collaboration collection for their appearances.
