Gucci 2024 Spring/Summer Collection is one of the most anticipated fashion shows of this season’s Milan Fashion Week, as it is the first fashion collection released by the new creative director, Sabato De Sarno. He named the grand show “Ancora,” describing it as “a story about joy, passion, humanity, crowds, and everyday reality.”
Gucci 2024 Spring/Summer Show attracted a crowd of celebrities and stars, including brand ambassador NewJeans member Hanni, Hollywood stars Julia Roberts and Ryan Gosling, emerging actor Paul Mesca, Korean stars Lee Jung-jae and Park Hae-yeong, and Taiwanese heartthrob Chang Chen, shining brightly.
Before the show, the entire city of Milan, including the streets and transportation, could already see the burgundy “Gucci Ancora” signs, which were a prelude to this grand event. However, it is a bit of a pity that Gucci Ancora was originally scheduled to hold this show on the streets around the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in the Brera district of Milan, which is the most artistic and cultural area of the city. But due to bad weather, the brand had to urgently change the location to the Gucci Hub headquarters. Although the weather was not favorable, it did not diminish the aesthetic that Sabato De Sarno wanted to convey this season.

The new era led by Sabato De Sarno abandons the previous extravagant and complex design philosophy, starting with a sleek gray coat and mini shorts, and a white vest. Shirts, shorts, dresses, suits, trench coats, patent leather mini skirts, etc., clearly show a trend towards simplicity, basics, and practicality. In addition, the newly introduced super thick-soled loafers are believed to become a must-have item in daily wardrobes.
While heading towards simplicity, the series is not lacking in glamorous details, with crystal mesh embellishing satin evening dresses; lustrous silk slip dresses showcasing strong sensuality; and crystal collar sweatshirts, fluorescent fringe jackets, and more. The classic Jackie and Bamboo bag styles make a comeback, interpreted with softer leather and more elaborate diamond decorations. In seemingly simple designs, upon closer inspection, Gucci’s classic DNA is not lacking. This season, De Sarno begins a new chapter in Gucci’s aesthetics.
