As major fashion brands return to physical showrooms in the post-pandemic era, Balenciaga takes a different approach by continuing to release the Balenciaga Spring 24 “Capital B” collection online. Through a time-lapse video, they draw inspiration from the ever-changing life and urban landscape, presenting the everyday cityscape of Paris.
Daily life has always been a source of inspiration for Demna, and in this video “Capital B,” the focus is on the Balenciaga flagship store at 10 George V Street in Paris, which is where Balenciaga originated in 1937. The spring collection consists of two different chapters: Garde-Robe (Balenciaga’s essential wardrobe collection) and the new season’s ready-to-wear collection, with a design focus on the practicality of everyday life.
Every model who walks out of the main store’s door or passes by like a passerby is no longer just showcasing clothing, but a “real character” in everyday life. They can be pedestrians walking their dogs, delivery workers, or people riding bicycles, and their everyday behaviors are faithfully presented. For example, they may pick up coins from the sidewalk or zoom past on a skateboard. Under the sunny sky of Paris, they immediately dodge the sudden rain.
