Milan Fashion Week: Fendi 2023 Autumn/Winter Collection Explores Feminine Elegance in Menswear

Milan Fashion Week officially kicks off, with the first day’s highlight being the Fendi 2023 Autumn/Winter show. Brand ambassadors Song Hye Kyo, Xu Guanghan, fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni, and member of the Korean girl group (G)I-DLE, Song Yuqi, were among the guests, making the fashion show even more exciting!

Artistic Director Kim Jones brings a pure and simple yet richly complex design to the new season, exploring classicalism and elegant style through subversive and imaginative techniques, while paying homage to punk. The unique outfits from Fendi’s jewelry Artistic Director, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, and the way she pairs them with Fendi’s collection pieces, have become the inspiration for this season.

The series explores and sublimates the deconstructive nature of binary, with designs that flow between genders while exuding a sense of luxury and delicacy. Men’s tailoring and traditional fabrics are infused with an interpretation of elegant femininity that twists the style, and practical elements are woven throughout, presenting a harmonious blend of strength and softness. In terms of color, in addition to the blue and brown combination inspired by Delfina’s first day in the studio, the main tones are deep gray, navy blue, and off-white, with a vibrant finale of purple-red and bright red to catch everyone’s eye.

Suits, coats, knitwear, and dresses, the entire collection has high wearability. Formal jackets feature sexy off-the-shoulder cuts, silk satin dresses with a refreshing drape, paired with flowing scarves. Layered and lacquered lace on jumpsuits, aprons, and uniforms; sheer lingerie or thigh-high lace-up boots exude a seductive atmosphere. Knitwear is either sharply cut or slightly twisted and deformed, interpreting punk style from a perfect angle. Felted wool is slightly shrunk, ribbed knits are buttonless, or worn askew.

Kim Jones also transformed the distinctive patterns from the brand’s 1996 autumn/winter collection into inlaid flowers, while Karl Lagerfeld’s sketch from 1981 was used for knitted sweaters, reproducing the brand’s history with modern techniques. Silvia Venturini Fendi has launched the new Fendi Multi handbag this season, which can switch between two completely different styles, embodying the brand’s versatile style. Another new design, FENDI C’mon, also continues the simple yet elegant style of this season.
