The Versace 2023 Spring/Summer collection is inspired by the “Dark Gothic Goddess”, interpreting a completely subversive queenly style through a dark and gothic aesthetic. “I have always admired rebels. A confident, wise, slightly queenly woman.” Creative Director Donatella Versace this season uses black and purple as the main colors, incorporating eye-catching details through different techniques and materials, injecting each piece with a sexy and rebellious look.
The fashion show kicked off with Gigi Hadid in a hooded cut-out jumpsuit, paired with chunky Mary Jane shoes. This was followed by a series of black outfits featuring elements like leather, sheer fabrics, and fringe incorporated into jumpsuits, biker jackets, and mini skirts. The dark color palette then transitioned to a vibrant purple, accented with pink and neon yellow, along with floral prints, injecting a lively atmosphere into the rebellious looks. Versace on Repeat prints, floral patterns, and zebra prints played off each other, combined with layered lace, cut-out embroidery, appliqués, and metal studs. The collection intentionally created sharp material contrasts, with chiffon dresses layered with jackets for a flowing and individualistic look; leather pants and jackets were adorned with plenty of metal studs, whether in lace or chiffon materials, sharp studs were visible.
The final segment of the fashion show featured several bridal looks, with veils paired with lace vests and garter belts in a style reminiscent of Goethe, showcasing a sexy and bold fashion attitude. The show culminated with Paris Hilton wearing a veil and a crystal-studded dress with thin straps, making a grand entrance in a Pink Lady-inspired outfit, bringing the fashion show to a climax.
