Spring and summer seasons call for a trip to the coast, Max Mara’s 2023 spring/summer collection embodies its consistent modern and sleek style, while adding a touch of casual coastal charm.
In the past, the aristocrats and carefree cultural and artistic figures of the upper class would leave their luxurious mansions and head to the Riviera from April to September each year to encounter the charm of the azure coast. On the sun-drenched beaches, not only did many classic masterpieces and great declarations come to life, but also the enduring Riviera style was born, and Renée Perle was undoubtedly the one who could best embody this style.
The azure coast is the theme of Max Mara this season, while Renée Perle’s classic style has become the inspiration for this season, interpreted in a more modern way, with backless tank tops and loose canvas sailor pants, as well as casual skirts tightened at the waist and flared at the bottom, paired with soft wide-brimmed sun hats or thick low sandals, showcasing a carefree and casual sense of freedom.
20th-century iconic female architect Eileen Gray becomes another inspiration for the collection, different from the masculine designers’ preference for strong straight lines, Eileen boldly incorporates curved shapes into architectural design, with her most iconic work being the E1027 villa built in southern France for her lover. Max Mara clothing draws inspiration from this curved bias design, paired with luxurious organza bows, printed with richly perfumed floral patterns in the rustic art style of southern France, highlighting the bold and fearless charm of the new female.
For Max Mara, clothing is not just designed for wearing, but also for experiencing life. As such, the brand has launched a series of overall looks with coarse linen as the main material. This linen is untreated and undyed, resembling rough linen fabric, sometimes with fringed edges. The brand’s iconic coats use shades of pink, blue, yellow, and green, paired with matching swimsuits, adding to its vacation vibe.
