In the upcoming 2022/23 resort collection, the brand has scheduled the show date for May 5, 2022, with the same hidden historical significance behind it.
CHANEL’s 2022/23 Resort Collection is held in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Throughout the brand’s history, many places have played important roles, nurturing the brand’s style and creativity, with Monte Carlo being one of the sources of inspiration for the brand.
CHANEL’s connection with Monte Carlo began in the 1920s, when Gabrielle Chanel first experienced the charm of the seaside resort and its neighboring areas. Since the 1990s, when Karl Lagerfeld took over the creative reins, the relationship with Monte Carlo has only grown stronger. Today, with the CHANEL 2022/23 early spring resort collection, Virginie Viard perfectly captures the carefree atmosphere and elegance of the French Riviera resort, as well as the fashion charm and modernity of CHANEL.
The brand invited Sofia Coppola and Roman Coppola to direct the trailer for this series, using a collage style to present photos of Gabrielle Chanel in the southern vacation area of France juxtaposed with Karl Lagerfeld’s advertisements shot in Monaco, as well as many classic photos taken in Monaco, including Princess Grace Kelly wearing a houndstooth suit, historical moments of Helmut Newton and Andy Warhol photographing Princess Caroline in Monaco, and more. Of course, there are also iconic images of Monte Carlo such as Karl Lagerfeld’s villa La Vigie and the Grand Prix race.
