#Paris Fashion Week: Saint Laurent 2022 Spring/Summer Collection, Recreating Paloma Picasso’s Iconic Glamorous Style

by

Born in Belgium, Italian creative director Anthony Vaccarello infuses his designs with the avant-garde of Belgian fashion, as well as the passion and sensuality of Italy. For the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2022 collection, he drew inspiration from Paloma Picasso, a close friend of the brand’s founder Yves Saint Laurent, creating a series of powerful and sensual garments.

In fact, in the Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Anthony Vaccarello paid tribute to Paloma Picasso. Now, five years later, he pays tribute to her again, bringing a slightly seductive neutral collection through clean and simple silhouettes, pleats, and cut-out designs, as well as substantial metallic accessories.

On the sky bridge, masculine neutral tailoring is everywhere to be seen, with structured padded shoulder suits and coats, paired with sleek and sharp tailoring, echoing Paloma Picasso’s subversive spirit of liberation; as for the fusion of V-neck tailoring and strong structured shoulder skirts, it is her favorite style, adding substantial metal accessories, blending masculine and feminine, revealing a unique feminine charm.

The series also includes jumpsuits that highlight the female curves, using pleats and twists to allow women to regain control of their bodies and declare the brand’s unique attitude towards women’s clothing.
