Givenchy 2022 Early Spring Collection: Cross-Cultural Street Aesthetics

by

Since Matthew M. Williams joined Givenchy, he has continuously revitalized this old fashion house, making the brand more youthful. The newly released Spring/Summer 2022 collection once again plays with street art culture, collaborating with Mexican-American artist Chito to celebrate freedom and personal style.

This season, Matthew M. Williams blends his American background with a new life in Paris through the collection that echoes real life. The series seems to metaphorize his experience from the United States to France, with many designs featuring tears, holes, and patches, symbolizing that even with scars on the road to pursuing dreams, Matthew M. Williams can use his talent and courage to mend those scars and grow stronger.

The graffiti elements in the series are the work of graffiti artist Chito. Matthew M. Williams transformed the girl and heart-shaped pattern Truehearted inspired by pop art into details of men’s and women’s clothing, becoming an artistic vocabulary on clothing, while also connecting to American culture.

In addition to the common metal chain elements, the series also includes RIMOWA suitcases with graffiti patterns, which are believed to be a must-have item for fashion enthusiasts!
