Off-White 2021 Fall/Winter Collection: De-chic and childlike, first time joining the see-now-buy-now lineup

by

After a 16-month hiatus, Off-White™, led by Virgil Abloh, finally returned to the fashion runway, holding a physical fashion show for the 2021 autumn/winter collection in Paris. With the support of New Guards Group, the brand announced last year that it would withdraw from this September’s fashion week schedule and join the see-now-buy-now trend.

The collection is named “LABORATORY OF FUN,” with Bella Hadid opening the show in a striking electric blue velvet off-the-shoulder dress; this is followed by a bright white ensemble with seams sewn from the inside out, a sleek gray leather suit, creating a sharp contrast with the eye-catching blue first look.

Virgil Abloh once said in an interview that he expects “streetwear to die within the next 10 years,” and this season’s clothing reflects his attempt to move towards a more minimalist and clean design direction; the electric blue evening gown at the end, also interpreted by Bella Hadid, highlights a sense of exquisite, noble luxury with its three-dimensional tailoring lines.
