Dior Shanghai Grand Show Highlights, Revealing a Side of “Pop Culture,” and Maria Grazia Chiuri is also a Blackpink Fan!?

Last night, Dior held a long-awaited night party at the Long Museum in Shanghai, releasing a new collection and hosting a nostalgic music event, reminiscent of the disco culture that was once popular in the 70s and 80s. At this fashion show, Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from Pop Art, presenting a total of 75 outfits, with four of them specially designed for Shanghai.

Before the fashion show began, the brand shared a definition of “POP” that was colorful, bright, Lady Gaga, Andy Warhol… What does “What is POP” mean to Maria Grazia Chiuri? She gave her answer at this fashion show.

Looking out at the fashion show, besides the dazzling silver disco balls hanging from the ceiling, there are also sequin decorations and leopard print seats throughout the venue, directly reflecting the theme. Even before the show starts, it’s already making people dizzy with excitement.

The first appearance of silver clothing echoes the disco ball, paying tribute to the iconic figure of pop aesthetics, Elio Fiorucci; the subsequent appearance of leopard print is inspired by Christian Dior’s designs for Mizza Bricard in the New Look of 1947. Maria Grazia Chiuri discovered this element in the brand’s archives, which brought back passion and excitement to people after World War II, making it a key focus of this season.

Another is the British artist Richard Hamilton’s British pop style, the Italian artist Marco Lodola’s new futurism, and the American pop artist Andy Warhol’s psychedelic aesthetics, all blending with Dior’s classic elements, making this season’s work look bolder and more diverse.

It is also worth mentioning that Maria Grazia Chiuri is a fan of Blackpink?! Blackpink’s style has also become an important inspiration for this season, with classic plaid patterns presented in various colors such as navy blue, gray, raspberry red, and lime green, which I believe will soon appear on Jisoo.

The fashion show featured four sequined sleeveless tops embroidered with the letters “D,” “I,” “O,” and “R,” paired with a black tulle skirt as the highlight. This exclusive collection was specially created for Shanghai, marking a perfect conclusion to this return to physical shows in Shanghai.
