#ParisFashionWeek Louis Vuitton collaborates with Fornasetti to stage a cultural and artistic fashion show at the Louvre!

On the last day of Paris Fashion Week, the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2021 show drew to a close. The venue was still the Louvre, and Nicolas Ghesquière, who has a deep love for architectural and artistic culture, has made the Louvre the designated venue for Louis Vuitton’s women’s collection since he took office. Unknowingly, this time marks the 8th show already.

Nicolas Ghesquiere chose to present a total of 44 looks in the area of Galerie Michel-Ange and Galerie Daru at the Louvre. Here, there are many sculptures from ancient Greece and Rome, as well as numerous works from the 16th century by Michelangelo displayed.

Although this is a fashion show without an audience, Nicolas Ghesquiere still meets everyone through the internet, expressing gratitude to the team and supporters, conveying warmth. The music for this show is a mix of two songs from the French legendary electronic music duo Daft Punk, who announced their breakup earlier. With the beat, the show officially begins. Models wearing the new Louis Vuitton outfits shuttle among the statues, creating a time and space crossover, allowing fashion to engage in a dialogue with culture.

The highlight of this season is the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and the Fornasetti studio. Nicolas Ghesquiere used classical hand-painted works by Italian art master Piero Fornasetti on clothing and handbags, making it the main creative element of this season.

The series features bubble sleeves, capes, and other voluminous designs, showcasing Fornasetti’s hand-painted works on knitted sweaters, hoodies, and various custom clothing through techniques such as jacquard, embroidery, and laser printing, creating avant-garde yet classical fashion pieces.

This season, Louis Vuitton has launched many new handbags, with Fornasetti hand-painted classical style portraits as the theme, whether held in hand or slung over the shoulder, they look like a work of art from the Renaissance period.

The water bucket handbag is printed with exquisite Fornasetti black and white architectural drawings, depicting the atmosphere of the Florence Baptistery during the Renaissance. The reinterpreted Petite Malle handbag shines with a metallic luster, featuring a dome pattern that creates a wonderful visual illusion. Classic styles like Dauphine, Alma, and others are also adorned with Fornasetti’s classic visual imagery.

The newly launched shoes take us to the future, bringing many futuristic styles. Louis Vuitton uses clothing to span the past, present, and future, engaging in a cross-temporal dialogue, witnessing the importance of culture and history.
