#2021 Haute Couture Fashion Week: Step into the “Tarot Castle” of DIOR, embarking on a journey of self-exploration.

Last night at 9:30 pm, Dior released its 2021 spring/summer haute couture collection through the short film “Tarot Castle.” Like the previous haute couture collection, it continues to work with Italian director Matteo Garrone to reinterpret haute couture fashion in an imaginative way. As we all know, Mr. Christian Dior was a superstitious person, and although tarot is not a new theme at Dior, this time the brand wants to focus on the search for self-belief.

At the beginning of the film, the female protagonist asks the ultimate philosophical question as soon as she opens the door: “Who am I?” The card she draws represents the wisdom, intuition, and contemplation of the High Priestess. As the camera shifts, the High Priestess hands the protagonist the key to unlocking life, leading her into the metaphorical secret castle of the inner self. Various characters appear in the film, including the “Justice Goddess,” the “Fool,” the “Star,” the “Moon,” the “Death,” and more, all dressed in the latest brand clothing, guiding the protagonist to find herself.

This season, a total of 45 new looks were released, with gold as the main color tone commonly seen in tarot cards. Gold is romantic and retro, highlighting a noble temperament, while also exuding a calm and dignified aura, weaving together a soft inner beauty. In addition to the magical and mysterious atmosphere visually presented in this season’s Dior haute couture, there is actually a deeper level of contemplation hidden within. A series of unique evening gowns feature abstract structures, with some garments adorned with semi-relief hollow designs, embellished with patterns created by Pietro Ruffo.

The brand also shared the behind-the-scenes of the “Grim Reaper” look in the video, with the making of the light gray chiffon dress and headscarf, showing the workshop tailors demonstrating how to sew each crystal onto the chiffon with precision, where the craftsmanship and details reveal the devil’s true form.

Maria Grazia Chiuri attempts to bring everyone to examine their innermost depths through the mysterious aura and intricate beauty of tarot cards. In this uncertain age, people are urgently seeking to reconnect with their spiritual lives. Tarot cards serve as a crucial medium that guides us into the mystical world, leading us to explore unknown territories while daring to examine our innermost depths. Take a moment to re-enter Dior’s tarot world through a 15-minute short film, where you can appreciate the exquisite haute couture designs and contemplate spiritual and self-exploration.
