Jacquemus SS21: Walked 600 meters of road, embarked on a journey to find “love”

Jacquemus led the “mini bag” trend last year, making a name for himself and introducing more people to the brand founded by French “90s” designer Simon Porte Jacquemus. Despite the constraints brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, Porte Jacquemus believes that the feeling of a physical fashion show cannot be replaced by videos. Therefore, he still insists on returning to the traditional runway format, bringing about 100 guests to the French Vexin Regional National Park, an hour away from Paris, to enjoy the Spring/Summer 2021 collection named “L’Amour” (Love).

Last year, Jacquemus presented the 2020 spring/summer collection in the dreamy and beautiful lavender fields of Provence. This time, the venue was changed to a vast wheat field, with a 600-meter wooden runway built, creating a romantic countryside atmosphere that is not only unforgettable but also a clever idea by Simon Porte Jacquemus. “I hope this collection speaks of ‘love’ and ‘celebration,’ like a simple country wedding or harvest festival,” Porte Jacquemus expressed. Through this setting and scenario, he aims to convey his romanticism and the most genuine, simple, and pure love he envisions.

With the slow swaying of the wheat ears, the model walked through the winding 600-meter path, interpreting this love-filled collection. The main color tones of the series use softer colors such as off-white, beige, ivory white, mint green, light pink, etc., and the light colors, combined with a rural atmosphere, subtly depict a hint of romance. The one-piece dress is one of the key items in the series, especially the pure white styles like wedding dresses. Among them, a white gown with an irregular fluffy skirt, paired with the lines on the chest, is simple and not fancy, depicting the pure image of the bride.

Pants are also a common item in this series, with mostly loose-fitting designs. The casual and neat style can definitely become a must-have daily fashion item for commuters. In addition to some simple and easy-to-control items, the series also includes some designed tops, such as pillow-shaped bra tops, oversized puff sleeve tops, etc., paired with wheat embellishments, vine patterns, and other elements, presenting a romantic countryside image.

Perhaps what everyone is most looking forward to is what kind of handbag design Jacquemus will bring after Le Chiquito. Of course, the brand did not disappoint, with upgraded versions of Le Chiquito, three-dimensional square bags, belt bags, and even turning pillows, dinner plates, and mini fruit baskets into handbags. Compared to practicality, this designer truly emphasizes a playful style.
