Tod’s presents “The Art of Craftsmanship” project with Venetian master craftsmen, celebrating the iconic Gommino loafers design and showcasing Italy’s excellent craftsmanship in multiple dimensions. Eleven Venetian master craftsmen interpret the Gommino loafers through their artistic works, tools, and skills. Tod’s collaboration with the city of Venice embodies the brand’s commitment to promoting professional knowledge, skills, and aesthetic promises, while also showcasing Italy’s unique position in the world.
The new project was launched during the 60th Venice Biennale, with several Venetian master craftsmen and Tod’s artisans, including glassblower Roberto Beltrami, gold leaf artisan Marino Menegazzo, oar makers Saverio Pastor and Piero Dri, glass masters Matteo Seguso (sculptor), Lucio Bubacco (glassblowing craftsman), and mask maker Sergio Boldrin all in attendance. Each of them inspired by the core values of Gommino loafers and the brand, creating unique works of art.
In addition, Tod’s has specially designed a limited series for Venice, featuring the iconic Gommino loafers and T Timeless leather handbags, which will be launched before the opening of the “2024 Venice Biennale”. This limited series includes hand-stitched men’s and women’s Gommino loafers and T Timeless leather handbags made of suede leather with a suede interior, adorned with double handles, stylish and elegant. In homage to Venice, the two new pieces are available in two new colors: Tiziano Red, named after the famous Italian painter Titian, and a deep blue reminiscent of the lagoon in Venice.
