Christian Louboutin collaborates with close friends to launch a charity series, promoting “global equality” through the “red sole shoes”!

by

Who says fashion people only know how to talk about superficial things and have no interest in worldly matters? Inspired by last year’s “Black Lives Matter” movement, Christian Louboutin engaged in a live discussion on social media platforms, where they met British actor Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba, who have African heritage. They had a profound conversation and hope to use their influence to help society.

The three of them eventually studied the life stories of historical figures Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela together, taking inspiration from their dedication to justice, equality, and freedom to create a series of designs for men’s and women’s clothing with two different themes.

One of the series is themed in the brand’s signature red color, called “Walk A Mile In My Shoes”; the brand does not suggest people actually “walk a mile in their shoes”, but rather calls for responding to the slogan and taking action to support victims of police violence and racial inequality in the United States, small farmers and their children in Somalia, disconnected and under-cared for youth in England, and orphans and girls in the Republic of Lion Mountain.

As for another series, it uses the plant Strelitzia reginae, also known as Mandela’s Gold, to symbolize empathy, hope, and freedom.

The full proceeds from this series will be directly donated to 5 non-profit organizations, including the humanitarian charity Be Rose, the Purposeful center that assists young women in developing the feminist movement, Immediate Theatre that supports art equality, the Somali Hope Foundation that is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to vulnerable children in Somalia, and Gathering for Justice that supports civic and social justice.
