Is this for “cute”? Delvaux’s latest Les Miniatures handbag series pays tribute to Japanese culture!

Long before the “micro bag” trend took off, the Belgian national treasure leather goods brand Delvaux had already seized the opportunity by launching the Les Miniatures miniature handbag series in 2015. These mini bags are not only cute but also carry a rich cultural significance, as Delvaux’s designs always incorporate the idea of “travel,” using different countries and cities around the world as backgrounds to bring together local culture and symbols in the classic Brillant handbag. Following previous themed series such as Hong Kong, the UK, and the US, this time the brand has focused on Japan, creating a series of 3 adorable and exquisite mini bags called Nippon!

Actually, even if the series is not directly stated to be based on Japan, you can tell at a glance because all three designs are full of a strong Japanese style! The “Sakura” handbag uses celadon blue leather as the base, engraved with tree branch patterns, and embellished with light pink three-dimensional cherry blossom patterns, elegant and charming; “Kabuki” is inspired by Japan’s unique intangible cultural heritage “Kabuki”, transforming the fully made-up faces of Kabuki into bag patterns, with the handle and flap designed as Kabuki hairstyles, very cleverly designed; “Sushi” is literally inspired by sushi, with the flap covered with three-dimensional “salmon roe” and adorned with three pieces of “cucumber”, and what’s even more interesting is that the handbag comes with a cute fish sushi soy sauce-shaped accessory!

Although Les Miniatures handbags are much smaller in size than the original, the workmanship and details are not compromised, and even require more attention, so the price range of 108,000 to 129,000 yen is definitely reasonable. This series will be released at Delvaux stores on August 28, and some of the proceeds will be donated to the non-profit international medical volunteer organization Japan Heart.
