Loro Piana presented its latest 2024-2025 autumn/winter collection during Milan Fashion Week, paying tribute to the brand’s century-old history, exquisite craftsmanship, and tradition, embarking on an extraordinary journey through fibers, fabrics, shapes, and silhouettes.
In order to allow visitors to have a deeper understanding of the brand’s tradition, the new collection exhibition specially combines immersive installation art, starting the journey with a historic “fiori di cardo” thistle machine. This is a machine filled with dried thistles, which is used in the process of embellishing the surface of fabrics, combing and loosening the wool of top fabrics, and “fiori di cardo” has always been Loro Piana’s DNA, appearing in the brand’s emblem since 1951, and this time it has also become a core design element of the collection, incarnating as printed patterns and decorative details.
After passing through the thistle machine and consulting the brand’s archive of fabrics used over the past 100 years, the space showcases the brand’s finest fibers: cashmere, baby cashmere, vicuña, and “the king’s gift,” as well as Sopra Visso wool and Pecora Nera®, this season re-explores these two iconic fibers and uses them again in product design.
On the women’s wear front, a blend of outdoor style and slightly masculine temperament can be seen in the Spagna coat, windbreaker, hooded jacket, and waistcoat made by Pecora Nera®. The suit jacket is adorned with delicate thistle patterns, paired with a matching knee-length skirt, showcasing feminine charm. The evening wear series continues the consistent simplicity and casualness, cleverly playing with masculinity and femininity, including a tailored tailcoat, a suit jacket with embroidered lapels, long skirts and knee-length skirts, and a stunning silk chiffon full-body sequin dress.
In addition to the super popular Extra Bag offering more leather and color choices, this season also introduces the Ghiera tote bag, adorned with classic leather patterns and an adjustable capacity closure design; another small Loom handbag, named after the hidden crossbar on the flap, reminiscent of the fabric hanging on the loom crossbar.
The men’s collection also showcases a soft style, blending elegance and casualness with crisp, precise tailoring and soft, comfortable materials. It includes a variety of military jackets, bomber jackets, multi-pocket vests, down jackets, as well as exquisite knitted sweaters and wool-lined shirt jackets, embodying a practical yet fashionable concept. The evening wear collection features single and double-breasted tuxedos, as well as luxurious shearling coats, allowing men to maintain a hint of relaxed casual style even as night falls.
