To welcome the traditional festival of Lunar New Year, Miu Miu is transforming the old into the new! Miu Miu has announced the launch of its fourth limited edition Miu Miu Upcycled collection, breathing new life into vintage denim and leftover leather, bringing a range of fashionable denim clothing and patchwork handbags!
The fashion industry continues to strive towards a “sustainable” future, and since the launch of its first “Miu Miu Upcycled Collection” in 2020, Miu Miu has been actively cultivating in the realm of “sustainability”. The birth of this collection aims to preserve the precious essence of vintage clothing, telling the stories of the garments and the people who wore them in the past, while also encouraging the practice of circular design. Through the values of history and timeless classics, it seeks to unfold new chapters for the present and future.
The focus of this Miu Miu Upcycled collection is on jeans, with fabrics that can be traced back to before 2000. These fabrics are carefully selected by denim experts from around the world based on their color, weight, and quality of fading. Denim is more durable than any other material and is highly regarded for its copper green, worn physicality and effects, making it the soul pillar of clothing memories and nostalgia. In order to reuse the fabric as much as possible, the outer seams of the denim are preserved before deconstruction and reshaping, and must be done by hand. The entire design is a reimagining of wardrobe prototypes, including polo shirts, button-up sweaters, cashmere lining skirts, and iconic Wander and Arcadie bags.

Denim clothing with floral embroidery also comes from the past, drawing inspiration from the research of high-end tailored clothing from the 1950s. It first appeared in the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2022 show, then in gold, and now reinterpreted in black. Each flower is hand-sewn using silk chiffon, faceted beads, and black crystals set in antique metal. The garments are adorned with leather labels printed with the Miu Miu Upcycled logo, while the inner labels are made of white canvas and feature the same brand emblem.
The series also includes bags for the first time. The Miu Miu Upcycled Patch bag collection is made from leather scraps used in Miu Miu designs. The stitching effect of the old works is reimagined with existing elements, creating a vintage look. The collection has been released in selected Miu Miu stores worldwide and on miumiu.com.
