Belgian royal leather goods brand Delvaux, in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of surrealist master Rene Magritte’s birth, has added new works to its classic Magritte collection. The works will be exhibited at the K11 Musea store in Hong Kong, showcasing seven classic pieces that have never been shown to the public. The Delvaux Magritte Asia-exclusive collection will also be released, highlighting Delvaux’s unwavering pursuit of art.
Founded in Brussels in 1829, Delvaux is the world’s oldest luxury leather goods house. The workshop constantly introduces new designs and continues to innovate in design and craftsmanship. It is still a high-end leather goods brand used by the Belgian royal family.
In celebration of the 125th anniversary of the birth of Rene Magritte, one of Belgium’s greatest artists, Delvaux has added new pieces to the namesake collection, paying tribute to the artist’s two great loves in life – his beloved wife Georgette Berger and his passion for the art world.

Under the rejuvenated design, Delvaux’s iconic handbags cleverly embody René Magritte’s humanism and whimsical ideas, drawing inspiration from his unique artistic techniques to blend wit, humor, romance, and insight into accessory creations and self-expression. This curated collection is divided into four themes, all inspired by the artist’s classic paintings.
The L’Amour collection beautifully and delicately interprets the painting “L’Art de la Conversation” created in 1950. The artwork depicts two swans gracefully swimming on a moonlit lake, cleverly forming the outline of the word “Amour”. This time, it is embroidered using the Bourdon Stitch technique on the Brillant and Pin handbags, adorned with fresh colors such as aloe green, ivory white, sky blue, and blooming pink.
The “L’Humour” series is inspired by another masterpiece by Magritte, “The Treachery of Images” (Trahison des images 1928-1929). The artwork presents a pipe in a surrealistic manner, accompanied by the famous quote “This is not a pipe.” In this collection, the essence is captured and embroidered on the Brillant and Pin handbags, with the words “This is not a Delvaux,” using Box Calf leather as the chosen material.
“The La Pomme collection interprets Magritte’s most famous symbol, the apple, using three-dimensional modeling techniques and calf leather material to create lifelike apple-shaped handbags that are charming and playful. This character, which appeared repeatedly in many of his paintings, such as the masked apple in “Le Prêtre marié” (The Married Priest, 1968) and the oversized apple filling the entire room in “La Chambre d’écoute” (The Listening Room, 1968), showcases Magritte’s imaginative creativity.”
Finally, the “L’Homme” series aims to pay tribute to Magritte’s most meaningful work, “Le Fils de L’Homme” (The Son of Man), which is often interpreted as a self-portrait. In the painting, a mysterious man wearing a bowler hat never reveals his face. This is presented on the new Pin City handbag and other accessories.
